Dr. John Valsamis

Dr. John Valsamis received his B.Sc. and D.V.M from the University of Guelph. After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1990, Dr. Valsamis practiced medicine and surgery of dogs, cats, birds and exotics at several hospitals in Toronto, Oakville, Scarborough and Mississauga. Dr. Valsamis opened Britannia Animal Hospital with Dr. Heather White in 1993. Dr. Valsamis’ main interests in veterinary medicine include avian and reptile medicine.

Aviculture has been a huge passion for Dr. Valsamis since childhood. He actively supports the retail pet industry, psittacine aviculture and responsible exotic pet ownership. He has been a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians since 1986, which has provided valuable continuing education for decades.

Dr. Valsamis is an active member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the College of Veterinarians of Ontario. He spent several years in the regulatory aspects of veterinary medicine and also contributed to the registration and discipline committees.

Dr. Valsamis was president of the Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital (MOVEH) for several years. This state of the art veterinary clinic provides emergency and specialty care for companion animals. His involvement with the MOVEH is one of Dr. Valsamis’ proudest accomplishments.

When not at Britannia Animal Hospital, Dr. Valsamis is a proud father and values his time with his family. Landscaping, gardening and artistic projects are some of the hobbies that he actively pursues.
