Dr. Matt Tommasini

Veterinarian

Dr. Matt Tommasini grew up in Rhode Island with an Italian father, Irish American mother, twin sister, a dog and a cat. A true outdoorsman, surfing, climbing, soccer, and nature were his main driving forces throughout his youth. As he grew older, Matt discovered a passion for animals – especially wildlife and exotics. This, combined with his love of puzzle solving, made a career in veterinary medicine a natural choice!

While working towards his undergraduate degree, Matt interned as a zookeeper and was taken under the wing of a zoo veterinarian who inspired him to pursue a veterinary degree. For that, he attended Massey University in New Zealand, where he then worked as an emergency and wildlife vet. After seven years of studying, working in, and exploring New Zealand, Matt returned to North America with a rediscovered interest in the native wildlife, and an appreciation for companion animal medicine as a means of honing skills essential to the field.

Outside of the clinic, Matt has one dog, Jackie, who is currently acclimating herself to the snow, which she had the ‘pleasure’ of experiencing for the first time recently. Matt’s favorite pastimes include surfing, climbing, mountain biking, and going on hikes and camping trips with Jackie. Most recently, the duo drove cross-country, hitting ten national parks and experiencing countless adventures along the way.
